Organizing The Home Office-Part 1 October 26, 2009

With more and more people opting to work out of their homes, the need to have a professional environment to have your work done is paramount. Even those contemplating to shift their businesses to their homes there are key areas that will ensure you stay sane and organized to ensure maximum productivity.

  • Records Management

Think of bills, invoices, delivery notes, LPO’s, purchase e.t.c that oils the wheel of your business need to be kept safe, organized and within your reach when the need arises. Having them scattered on your table top or if you prefer digitilized, there is need for an organized.

  • Time Management

Being your boss may lead to delusions of having 25hours in your day. This scenario is especially so for newbie home office workers who miscalculate their time. While working from home eliminates commuting, countless hours on traffic jams and office politics that eat into one’s time, managing one’s time is essential to ensure an orgnanized work day that will leave you with some time for your other obligations.

  • Storage

If you do not have the luxury of having an extra room for your office purposes, you will be left with the option of squeezing yourself into one room that’s not used often. It could be your kid’s room, kitchen top, that well lit  corner in your bedroom or even on the patio. For this reason your office supplies, correspondence, documents and paper work will need safe, neat storage facilities. As you map your office, remember to account for storage solutions.

  • Clutter Control

There needs to an organized manner of ensuring clutter is eliminated or otherwise controlled. As businesses are not static, clutter are bound to pile up usually in form of paper, electronics, finished pens, pencils, broken equipments e.t.c that need to be dealt with effectively.
